John KaSandra
Sometimes referred to as “Stax Records’ Funky Philosopher,” John KaSandra was known for his songs about black consciousness of the times. He recorded several albums and singles at Stax, including “(What’s Under) The Natural Do,” a nod to the fact that embracing black power meant more than wearing an Afro hairstyle.
