The original members, hand-picked by John Belushi and Dan Aykroyd, are best known for the Universal Pictures feature films and soundtracks for The Blues Brothers and Blues Brothers 2000, and for the Atlantic Record triple-platinum album Briefcase Full of Blues. They are also known for their seemingly tireless and passionate efforts to proudly perform this great music around the globe each year to appreciative audiences of all ages. The band performing in Memphis includes Steve “The Colonel” Cropper-Guitar, Lou “Blue Lou” Marini-Sax, Steve “Catfish” Howard-Trumpet, “Smokin” John Tropea-Guitar, Anthony “Rusty” Cloud-Keyboards, Eric “The Red” Udel-Bass, Lee “Funkytime” Finkelstein-Drums, Larry “Trombonius Maximus” Farrell-Trombone, Bobby “Sweet Soul” Harden-Vocals, and Rob “The Honeydripper” Paparozzi-Vocals, Harmonica.
Since regrouping in 1988, the band has triumphantly performed each year in both domestic and international venues large and small worldwide. In Europe the band played an unprecedented three sold-out nights in Paris’ prestigious Olympia Theater, where the seats were removed for the first time in the history of the theater to accommodate the excitement between band and audience. They have headlined at most of the jazz, blues, and rock festivals throughout Europe and have entertained audiences estimated up to 60,000 in a single performance. “THE MISSION CONTINUES….!”
According to Steve Cropper, “We are going to perform a very special concert honoring my best friend and Booker T. & the MGs bassist - brother Donald "Duck" Dunn. Numerous people in the music industry who loved Duck and who Duck influenced have been asking me about making this happen and I can't think of a better way to honor Duck than with a blow-out concert in Memphis to benefit the Stax Museum during its 10th anniversary.
It is a standing room only concert with very limited seating. A limited number of tables for eight are available for $400 each.
